SAFARI PARK FIELD TRIP.

Safari Park Field Trip

On April 8, 2017 the students of Grade 4 were taken on a day long excursion to the Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur. The excitement of the week long wait for the trip ended on Saturday morning, when all the four buses left the school premises at around 8:30am for Gazipur. A total of 40 participating students were accompanied by seven respective teachers on the trip.

The purpose of this field trip was to allow the children to observe the wildlife in their natural habitat. Our students had the opportunity to see different kinds of exotic birds and their eggs in the aviary gallery, various fish in the marine aquarium, and elephants. They also got to see horses and ponies roaming free in the field without restrains. This fulfilled one of the main purposes of the trip, which had been planned in correlation with the story, Black Beauty, which the students are currently reading in English Literature. The students took time to observe them and relate their physical attributes and activities to the characters’ that they have come across in the story. After a much needed lunch break, the students, and the teachers got ready for the most awaited part of the trip - am exhilarating ride through the reserve to see the wild animals. We were very lucky to have had the chance to see lions up close, enjoying a lazy afternoon, a tiger attempting to camouflage itself, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, and many antelopes. 

 Field trips are an essential part of education as students are given the opportunity to bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and real life experience. We believe through this trip our children were able to engage in reflective observation of the animals and their life, all the while spending quality time with their teachers and peers.
